You have inherent strengths and insights you have underestimated, or never even recognized. Your first task in counseling is to tap this natural resiliency, to cultivate the clarity and confidence that arises when you slow down and appraise yourself, and your life situation, with compassionate perspective and a mindful lens.

Your second task is to patiently apply this evolving wisdom to the situations or obstacles that led you to seek supportive treatment in the first place.

Carl Rogers, the world renewed theorist, summarized the three essential qualities of counseling as genuineness, empathy and unconditional positive regard. To the best of my ability, I strive to honor that philosophy in every encounter.
